1.) Remove debris from gutters and downspouts.
2.) Check gutter and downspout alignment and caulking to make sure water is collected and draining properly.
3.) Inspect grading around the house to make surewater is draining away from the foundation, fill in any sunken areas. Be sure to clean debris out of swales, culverts, window wells, etc.
4.) Check vents and louvers for air movement and clean screens if necessary.
5.) Check footer drain runoffs, sump pumps, and floor drains for debris. Test them by pouring water down them and checking the end of the runoff to make sure water runs out.
6.) If you have a wooden deck, remember to seal it annually with a product such as Cuprinol.
7.) Now is the time to test your air conditioning, before the heat of Summer sets in. If need be, have it serviced now, before you need it. Remember to clean the filter monthly and schedule routine maintenance per your heating contractor. Clean leaves and debris from around the outdoor unit.
8.) Check the exterior spigots, hose bibs, and shutoff valves for leaks prior to watering flowers or plants. If the hose was attached all Winter there is a possibility of a ruptured water line.
9.) Inspect and maintain caulking around windows and doors to prevent water penetration.
10.) Inspect the roof for any damage from ice build up or tree branches. Check for missing shingles and replace if needed.
